Hi I have a 1999 Ford F-150. A few years ago my AC stopped working. The vents blow air just fine but it’s just not cold air. I have added R134a refrigerant and saw the compressor begin to engage properly. It worked and blew cold air but within a few days to a week at most the air stopped being cold. I also noticed a smell inside the cab of
Symptoms are as follows; The system was blowing warm air at any temperature setting even thought the charge is OK. I disconnected the heater control valves and now the air blows cold. The Auxiliary Fan comes on after about 3-4 minutes with the compressor running but runs at erratic speeds at first then only runs on high. Sounds like an airplane.
Yes, in hot and humid climate evaporator freezing is common to both E90 and F30. Happens if the fan speed is low. On a long trip, setting the fan speed to high prevents the evaporator from freezing. Or why not turn off off ac while driving for 10min or wtvr to thaw and back on to avoid stopping.
If the car has sat in the sun on a hot day for more than a few hours, the AC will not blow cold after startup. It can take anywhere from 10-20 minutes for the AC to start blowing cold again. Once the AC starts blowing cold, it will stay blowing cold pretty much indefinitely until the car has sat for multiple hours again. Things I've diagnosed:
Then a likely culprit is this blower resistor, often called the "final stage unit" in the BMW world. The function of this part is to regulate the voltage of the blower motor on BMWs which use the digital climate control. This blower resistor is a notorious weakness on the cars that use it. When it fails, your blower fan speed can fluctuate as
